The LAST Day One

Let me first say that I had an INSPIRING week!

I caught up with three of my closest friends who, through the decisions they made, reminded me to always be energetic (friend #1), not be afraid to try new things (friend #2), and appreciate the simple things in life (friend #3).

I ran 10 kilometers in under 1:07, not exactly elite, but definitely an achievement for someone who has been slacking off in the last few months.

And today, after bumping into a ghost from the kinky past, I was convinced that peace shall prevail on earth after all if you are willing to spend a sincere smile.

So!  With a courageous, optimistic and inspired heart, I declare this THIRD and FINAL ATTEMPT at the 21-Day Vegetables-Only-For-Dinner Challenge officially ON!

Last Day 1

Peanuts for the brain, bananas for the happy soul, and an orange for clarity of mind.

Mood Food: Banana & Peanut Butter

DAY 10

I wasn't in the mood tonight.

When I got home, I spent some time sulking in our couch, nursing my lethargy.  My mind and body just simply refused to get up and do anything, not even to prepare dinner.  I even almost threw this whole challenge out the window after I spied the can of Holland cookies on top of the ref.  It was that bad.

Then I remembered that I had bought bananas at the neighborhood palengke earlier.

That's it, I need happy food

And what could complement banana best but peanut butter?  (I like Lily's.)

You can't imagine the joy I felt slicing a long fleshy thing into small pieces.  Try it.

The classic banana and peanut butter combo is just hard to beat.  Bananas are rich in essential nutrients including vitamin B6 and potassium, packed with dietary fiber, and available year-round.  Peanut butter is a good source of monounsaturated fats (good for the heart), rich in antioxidants, and helps you stay slim. It is also good for removing gum from your hair.

The sweetness of the banana plus the comforting smell of peanut butter instantly lifted my spirits up!  I made a mental note to include this in my list of go-to foods to ward off serious cravings during that time of the month.

Did you know that fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches are The King's favorite?  Here's the recipe if you're interested.
